Donna Weed, 86 formerly of Norfolk, NE, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society - Albion.
Memorial Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 5, 2019 at Huebner Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa .
Inurnment will take place at Bonanza Cemetery, Akron, Nebraska.
Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE and Huebner Funeral Home of Denison, IA are in charge of arrangements.
Donna Mae Helen Weed, daughter of William L. and Lena O. (Plagge) Namanny, was born June 3, 1933 in Crawford County, IA. She received her formal education at rural Crawford County, IA schools. She worked at a variety store in Denison, IA, baby sat for siblings and later moved to Omaha, NE.
On October 23, 1954, Donna married Donavon Gale Weed at Elk Pointe, SD. They made their home in Sioux City, IA where Donna worked as secretary in the Sioux City school system. She later became an entrepreneur, starting a business of word processing called DME Secretarial Services. In their retirement, Donna and Donavon enjoyed living in Hot Springs Village, AR for 11 years before returning to Nebraska. Donna later moved to Norfolk, NE where she lived until recently moving to Albion, NE.
Donna was a member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Cheryl (Rodney) Sherburne of Albion, NE; Gayle Mathieson Schantz of Hornick, IA; Rodney D. (Caren) Weed of Omaha, NE; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister Marcella (Melvin) Petersen of Schleswig, IA; a brother William (Audrey) Namanny of Carroll, IA; along with many nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband Donavon Weed; three brothers: Leonard, Wilbert and Kenneth; two sisters: Shirley and LaDene; her parents William and Lena Namanny; her in-laws Charles and Lillian Weed.
