Donald "Butch" William Worden

Donald "Butch" W. Worden, 75, of St. Edward, NE, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center in Lincoln, NE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 15, 2019 at St. Edward Catholic Church, St. Edward, NE with Fr. Bill L'Heureux officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward, NE with military rites conducted by Crosier American Legion Post #226 of St. Edward, NE. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-6 p.m. with a 6 p.m. wake service at the church.

Miller-Levander Funeral Home of St. Edward, NE is in charge of the arrangements.

Donald "Butch" William Worden, the son of William Ivan and Hazel Myrtle (Strong) Worden was born on September 13, 1943 at the Mock Place near Petersburg, Nebraska. Butch attended Boone County School

District 18 west of Petersburg, NE until the 8 th grade. On February 3, 1965 Butch entered the United States Army where he served in Berlin, Germany during the Vietnam War. He returned to the US in 1967, and received his honorable discharge in 1969. Butch was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE.

On August 23, 1969 Butch was united in marriage to Virginia Ann Pfeifer at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE. The couple made their home 2 ½ miles west of St. Edward, NE where Butch farmed. He was a member of the St. Edward Catholic Church, St. Edward, NE, as well as the Crosier American Legion Post #226 of St. Edward, NE. Butch enjoyed working on the ranch as a young adult, riding horses and checking cattle. He also enjoyed tractor pulling, watching stock car races, restoring old farm tractors, and working in his shop.

Butch is survived by his wife Virginia, fur children: Teddy Bear, Boots, and Peanuts; sister: Pauline Mohr of Fremont, NE; brothers-in-law: Mike (Dar) Pfeifer of Spalding, NE; Pat Pfeifer of Loomis, NE; sister-in-law: Rita (Tom) Schaaf of Stuart, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Hazel, parents-in-law Mike and Marie Pfeifer; sister June Mills; nephews Donald Mohr and Christopher Pfeifer; 2 brothers-in-law: Ray Mohr and Bill Mills; and sister-in-law Jane Royle.
