Donald L. Harms, 71, of Albion, NE, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at UNMC Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the United Methodist Church in Albion, NE. Immediately following the visitation, a luncheon with the family will be held in the church basement. Inurnment will be at a later date at the German Lutheran Cemetery, rural Monroe, NE.
Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements.
Donald Lee Harms, the son of Walter G. and Ruby (Brownell) Harms, was born on July 26, 1948 at Columbus, NE. Don attended grade school at District 17 near Monroe, NE and graduated from Monroe High School in 1966.
Following high school, Don worked at a Columbus alfalfa mill, a feed mill in Genoa, NE. He later began working for Slovinsky driving truck and doing dirt work. Don drove truck for Dahlsten Trucking before he began a 46 year career driving for Werner Service and Trucking in St. Edward, NE. During this time, Don lived in St. Edward and later moved to Albion, NE.
On March 20, 2014, Don was united in marriage to Jimmi Chambers at the Boone County Courthouse in Albion. The couple made their home in Albion. When he wasn't away driving truck, Don enjoyed watching stock car racing as well as Nebraska football. Don loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Don is survived by his wife Jimmi Harms of Albion, NE; son: Bryan (Allissia Gronenthal) Harms of Stanton, NE; daughter: Sherri Harms of Las Vegas, NV; two step-daughters: Krisi (Ernie) Douglas of Albion, NE; Stephanie Shell of Albion, NE; six grandkids; brother: Gary (Diane) Harms of Monroe, NE; sister: Gale Krueger of Grand Island, NE; as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
