Donald "Jim" James Scarlett Sr.

Donald J. "Jim" Scarlett, 90 of Albion, NE passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 at the Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, NE.

Jim's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service for Jim's life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE also at a later date.

Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Donald James "Jim" Scarlett Sr., son of James Claire and Fern (Seymour) Scarlett, was born on July 7, 1930 in Boone County, Nebraska. Jim attended country school west of Albion through the eighth grade. Jim then helped his father on the family farm until he entered the United States Marine Corps on November 13, 1951. Jim served honorably and was discharged on November 3, 1953. Following his military service, Jim drove truck until he was 80 years old. Throughout the years that he drove over the road, he hauled livestock and later freight. Jim loved trucking and working his whole life. He enjoyed being able to see the country and leaving his mark where he went.

Jim was united in marriage to Jean Bartels in Albion, NE. To this union six children were born: Bill, Deb, Don, Jerry, Steve, and Mike. Jim later married Sally Collins and to this union had three children: Krystal, Jena, and James.

Jim is survived by his children: Bill (Brenda) Scarlett of Primrose, NE; Deb Scarlett of Albion, NE; Don Scarlett of Yucca, AZ; Jerry (Jeanie) Scarlett of Columbus, NE; Steve Scarlett of Thorton, CO; Mike Scarlett of Grand Island, NE; Krystal Collins of Albion, NE; Jena Scarlett of Belgrade, NE; James Scarlett of St. Edward, NE; 31 grandchildren with one on the way; 30 great-grandchildren; and sister: Betty Rech of San Antonio, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two great-grandchildren: Dackotea Olson and Liz Thomas; and 11 siblings.
