Donald "Don" F. Carlin, 57, of Grand Island, NE, formerly of Spalding, NE passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Bryan Medical Center West Campus in Lincoln, NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2021 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE with Rev. Antony Thekkekara, and Rev. Don Buhrman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, Spalding, NE. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, with a 7:00 p.m. wake service. Current Covid-19 DHM's in effect, including social distancing, will be followed at all services and masks will be required for those in attendance.
Levander Funeral Home of Spalding, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
Donald Francis Carlin, the son of Peter Francis and Kathleen (Glesinger) Carlin was born on June 26, 1963 at Albion, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE. Don attended school at Spalding Academy and graduated with the class of 1981. He then attended college at CCC-Hastings Campus and received his HVAC, Heating and Air Certification.
Don lived in Grand Island where he worked for Johnson Controls, and then Conditioned Air Mechanical. On April 13, 2002 Don was united in marriage to Melodie Jo Ceder at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE. He was a member of the St. Leo's Catholic Church in Grand Island, NE. He was also a Member of the Steamfitters & Plumbers Local #464 Union. Don loved spending time with his family, and especially his wife and his son Tyler. He loved animals, and especially his Golden Retriever Conner. He enjoyed hunting, camping, and snowmobiling. He was an outdoorsman and was happy doing anything outside. Don was quite the MacGyver as he was very handy and could fix about anything. Don was a quiet man but was always willing to give a helping hand, and always put others before himself. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.
Don is survived by his wife Melodie and son Tyler of Grand Island, NE; mother Kathleen "Kitty" Carlin of Spalding, NE; seven siblings: Patrick and Arlene (Bernt) Carlin of Lincoln, NE; William and Kathy (Hinkle) Carlin of Hastings, NE; Mary and Randy Dobbins of Burwell, NE; Ed and Wendy (Paulman) Carlin of Spalding, NE; Joe Carlin and his friend Laura Hardesty of Raymond, NE; Diane Carlin of Petersburg, NE; and Bob Carlin of Spalding, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Peter; and grandparents: Henry and Vera Carlin; William and Kathleen Glesinger.
