Donald "Fuzzy" D. Greek, 81 of Fullerton, NE died Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island, NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids, NE with Rev. Mark Tomasiewicz officiating. Inurnment will follow at Sunset Cemetery with military rites conducted by Dan Cox American Legion Post #44 of Cedar Rapids, NE, Army Funeral Honor Guard and the American Legion Riders. A memorial visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the church.
Levander Funeral Home of Albion is in charge of arrangements.
Donald "Fuzzy" Dean Greek, son of Mearl Lawrence and Dora Ruth (Wolfe) Greek, was born on June 17, 1942 near Cedar Rapids, NE. Fuzzy attended school at Cedar Rapids and graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1962.
Fuzzy was inducted into the United States Army on August 2, 1966. While stationed at Fort Hood, TX, Fuzzy was united in marriage to Betty Jean Zabka on January 14, 1967. It was also during this time that Fuzzy became a member of the Catholic church. He was honorably discharged from active-duty service on August 1, 1968.
Fuzzy lived in many places throughout his life including Fort Hood, TX; Riverside, CA; Schuyler, NE; Barsto, CA; Columbus, NE; and most recently, Fullerton, NE. Fuzzy was a career over-the-road truck driver for Rebel Van Lines. Fuzzy enjoyed fishing, going to casinos, and Nebraska Football. Even after retiring from trucking, Fuzzy still loved to drive and travel.
Fuzzy is survived by his children: Teresa (Charles) Martin of Fullerton, NE; Dale (fiancé Christena Clancey) Greek of Emmett, ID; Brandi (Joel) Hemmingsen of Cedar Rapids, NE; 10 grandchildren: Kathleen (Jeremiah) Cantrell; Joshua Shambaugh; Haley Greek; Parker Martin; Cole Greek; Ashten Martin; Theodore Hemmingsen; Josie Hemmingsen; Nathan Hemmingsen; Lana Hemmingsen; three siblings: Harry (Geri) Greek of Newman Grove, NE; Carol Biggs of California; Mary Alice "Tootie" of Arkansas; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and five brothers.
