Donald A. Booth, 75, of Albion, NE, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at his home near Albion, NE.

Memorial Services will be 6:30 p.m., Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE with Rev. Lynde Linde officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Arbor Day Foundation.

Donald Alfred Booth, son of Alfred and Gladys (Rupard) Booth, was born on August 2, 1951, at the Naval Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. Donald grew up in Vienna, VA, where he attended local schools. As a youth, he enjoyed playing baseball and piloting boats, pursuits that reflected his adventurous nature and love of an active life. After attending James Madison High School in Vienna, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served while stationed in California. In 1979, Donald moved to Nebraska.

Donald first married Kerry Cole, the mother of his children, who preceded him in death. On April 29, 2020, he was united in marriage to Catherine Glaser in a private ceremony at their home. Together, Donald and Catherine built a life grounded in love, companionship, hard work, and self-sufficiency.

Donald worked for many years as a welder at Lindsay Manufacturing. In recent years, he worked for Niewohner’s, where he performed maintenance on their hog units. He worked hard to provide for his family and was a dependable man who believed in showing up and doing what needed to be done. No matter what the previous day had brought or what the weather was doing, Donald got up every morning and went to work so he could care for and provide for his family.

Some of Donald’s greatest interests centered on the natural world and the practical work of daily life. He cared deeply about trees and the environment around him. With Kerry and their children, he planted more than 200 trees on their property, and he and Catherine later planted at least 10 more. He enjoyed music, homesteading, beekeeping, and the many hands-on skills involved in self-sufficiency, including canning, raising and butchering animals, gardening, and chopping wood. He also had an appreciation for the past and enjoyed collecting antique lanterns. Through these pursuits, Donald expressed his curiosity, resourcefulness, and deep connection to the world around him. Donald was a true renaissance man, skilled in an unexpected variety of subjects. He knew how to deliver a baby, fix a vehicle, build a house, grow a garden, find the stars, and much more. He possessed a remarkable depth of knowledge, along with a willingness to keep learning. His acceptance of others, welcoming spirit, wit, charm, and willingness to share what he knew made him the unique and memorable person he was. Beneath his humor and curiosity was a fierce loyalty to the people he loved. Donald was protective of his family and stood up for those who were vulnerable or unable to defend themselves. Donald passed away at home on August 22, 2026.

He is survived by his wife: Catherine Glaser of Albion, NE; his children: Shane (Michael) Nolan; Jesse (Andrea) Booth; Elizabeth (Brandon) Kleffner; Rhiannon (Brian) Schroeder; Scarlett (Chanse) Luscomb; Eubie (Kaitlin) Booth; Peaches Booth; Sugar (Shelby) Booth; Honey (TeJay) Booth; Blossom (Natalie) Booth; Lena (fiancé Josh) Carnley; Cain “Lacey” Carnley; Philip Carnley; Vivian Carnley; and Ginger Booth; more than 30 grandchildren by the family’s last count; brothers: Gary Booth; John (Lynn) Booth; and Dennis (Sharon) Booth; as well as many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Kerry; children: Cody Booth and Yogi Booth; sister: Maria Booth; and sister-in-law: Sandy Booth.

Donald will be remembered for his capable hands, curious mind, generous spirit, fierce loyalty, and the many ways he made himself useful to the people and world around him.
