Dean L. Roberg

Dean L. Roberg, 63, of Newman Grove, NE, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at his home in Newman Grove, NE.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 16, 2024, at Levander Funeral Home, Albion, NE with Pastor Claire Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Newman Grove, NE.  Visitation will be Sunday from 4:30-7:00 p.m. at Levander Funeral Home, Albion, NE.

Dean Lee Roberg, son of Donald and Marilyn (Johnson) Roberg, was born on January 13, 1961, in Columbus, NE. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Newman Grove, NE and later confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Newman Grove, NE.  He attended Newman Grove High School and graduated with the class of 1979. Following graduation, Dean went to Milford to get his degree in Drafting and Design in 1982.

On September 20, 1986, Dean married the love of his life, Jody Bruland at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE. From this union, Dean was blessed with two sons. The couple lived in Holdrege, NE before moving to Sioux City, IA. There Dean worked in the engineering department as a draftsman. Dean and his family then moved to a farm near Newman Grove, then drove to Norfolk for 30 years to work at the City of Norfolk as an engineer aide III.  He retired in September 2024.

Dean was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Dean enjoyed getting dirty and working with his hands. He helped his father on the farm, tinkering in the backyard, and restoring one of his prized possessions, a '66 Nova. Dean enjoyed going to car shows, all Husker sports – especially football, and spending time with his loved ones.

Dean is survived by his wife: Jody Roberg of Newman Grove, NE; two sons: Brett (Karissa) Roberg of Holdrege, NE; Greg (Jenny) Roberg of Lindsay, NE; two granddaughters: Kinley and Alayna; father: Don (Marian) Roberg of Newman Grove, NE; brother: David (Jolene) Roberg of Albion, NE; two nephews: Zach (Mikaela) Roberg and children Owen and Parker of Lindsay, NE; Branden (Jaclynn) Roberg and child Weston of Holstein; along with many brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother: Marilyn Roberg; maternal grandparents: Harvey and Nell Johnson; paternal grandparents: Sam and Evelyn Roberg; mother-in-law: Beverly Bruland-Rieck.
