David Loran Goodwater

David L. Goodwater, 80, of Albion, NE died unexpectedly Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, NE.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the United Methodist Church in Albion, NE with Pastor Lynde Linde officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

David Loran Goodwater, son of Loran Soloman and Mary "Eileen" (Hughes) Goodwater, was born on August 13, 1942 at their home near Albion, NE. David grew up on the family farm and attended country school east of Albion until 8th grade then Albion High School where he graduated in 1960.

In addition to farming, David worked at Graham Ford dealership in Albion, and during the winter, he also worked in Omaha at the Butternut Coffee factory and the Omaha Stockyards. David met Frances Kay Burghardt in Omaha, NE on a blind date. They were later married on November 17, 1963 at a Presbyterian church in Omaha, NE. Following their wedding, the couple made their home east of Albion where David was a lifelong farmer. In 2004, David and Frances moved into town, but he still continued to help his sons and their families on the farm.

David was a member of the United Methodist Church in Albion for 68 years where he was involved as a Trustee and as an usher for Sunday services and funerals. David was also a former member of the Albion Rural Fire Board and the Rose Hill Cemetery Board. Throughout his life, David enjoyed woodworking, tractors, going to farm sales and shows, and working on machinery. He was a kind hearted person who enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Surviving David is his wife Frances Kay Goodwater of Albion, NE; two sons: Carey (Cindy) Goodwater and Mike (Christy) Goodwater all of Albion, NE; four granddaughters: Anna, Katie, Sadie, and Carie Goodwater; brother-in-law: Albert VanDeWalle of Albion, NE; two sisters-in-law: Linda Beran and Bonnie Burghardt both of Elkhorn, NE; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Loran and Eileen Goodwater; sister: Norma VanDeWalle; and brother-in-law: Larry Burghardt.
