David Brugman, 76, of Pierce, NE, passed away on June 19, 2026 in Omaha after a brave stand against Alzheimer’s.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2026, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Albion, NE with Rev. Matt Gutowski officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Albion, NE. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church with a 7:00 p.m. wake service.
Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements.
David John Brugman was born on March 12, 1950, at St. Mary Hospital in Columbus, NE, to Bernard (Bud) and Alice (Salber) Brugman. David, the eldest of eleven siblings, was raised on a farm near Albion, NE. He attended St. John Vianney Seminary in Elkhorn, NE, graduating with the class of 1968. Shortly after graduation, David returned home to join his father on the family farm.
On June 8, 1985, David married Marlene Zurovski at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion, NE, and adopted her daughter Melissa shortly after. They raised a family of four daughters in Pierce, NE, before divorcing in 1995. David built a long career at Tyson Foods, where he worked for 46 years until his retirement in 2020. He was an avid reader, a passionate sports fan, and actively served at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Pierce, NE. As a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, he regularly participated in meetings and generously volunteered at various events and fundraisers for the community.
David is survived by his daughters: Sarah (Michael) Torsiello of Lincoln; Melissa (Steve) Lind of Osmond; Rebecca (Jake) Geneski of Osmond; Ruth (Landis) Young of Norfolk; Rachael (John) Bryan of Bellevue; Elizabeth Brugman of Omaha; and siblings Delores (Gene) Graney of Marble Falls, TX; Kay (Tom) Haffey of Lincoln; Ed Brugman of Denver, CO; Tom (Jacquie) Brugman of Albion; Clifford (Colleen) Brugman of Lincoln; Rita (Mark) Griesman of Grand Island; Mark Brugman of Norfolk; Bill Brugman of Albion; Theresa (Steve) Johnson of Grand Island; and Cecilia (Kent) Schumacher of Allen, TX; along with 17 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Tyler Johnson.
David will be remembered for his unwavering faith and exemplary work ethic. Friends and loved ones cherished his storytelling, bringing joy and laughter to all those around him.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the compassionate staff at Parson’s House of Omaha, and to the residents who welcomed David as a friend during the five years he resided there.
