Darlene Janice Allen

Darlene J. Allen, 75, of Albion, NE passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Genoa Community Hospital-Long Term Care in Genoa, NE.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE with Rev. Carolann Hopcke and Vicar Adam Klinker officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

Darlene Janice Allen, daughter of Eugene and Lorraine (Balzer) Bantz, was born on August 3, 1946 in Albion, NE. She was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion on September 8, 1946 and was confirmed there as well on April 10, 1960. Darlene attended District 83 school until the family moved into town in 1955. She then attended Albion Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1964.

On June 20, 1965, Darlene was united in marriage to James Randall Allen at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Albion where together, they owned and operated Qualsett Furniture Store. Darlene later worked at Dollar General in Albion until her retirement. Darlene enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Darlene is survived by her husband: James R. Allen of Albion, NE; two sons: Kenneth R. (Yasuko) Allen of Rochester, MN; Brian J. Allen of Talladega, AL; four grandchildren: Dean Allen; Josephine Allen; Jacquie (Gary) Benge; Mica Allen; two great-grandchildren: JJ Benge and Mason Benge; two sisters: Arletta Francis of Albion, NE; Joyce (George) Thomsen of Jarrett, TX; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law: Wendell Francis.
