Daniel T. Gaunt

Daniel T. Gaunt, 65, of St. Edward, NE, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 23, 2025, as a result of a motorcycle accident near Ceresco, NE.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 1, 2025, at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE with Pastor Billy Czapla officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

Daniel Todd Gaunt was born on March 12, 1960, in Atlantic, IA, to Dick and Della (Brown) Gaunt. His childhood began in Atlantic, and in 1975 the family moved to Battle Creek, NE, where Dan later graduated from Battle Creek High School Class of 1979.

Dan built a career that reflected his gift for connecting with people. He worked in sales at Firestone and Freightliner and later joined BD East in Columbus, NE. A true natural at conversation, Dan had a quick wit, an easy charm, and the uncanny ability to make you feel like you'd known him for years. If you talked with Dan, chances were good you'd end up smiling and maybe buying something you didn't even plan on. He simply had that kind of charisma.

In his later years, Dan transitioned into a relaxed retirement but continued working part-time as a janitor at St. Michael's Catholic School in Albion. He loved the everyday interactions with staff and students, and the school community brought him joy, companionship, and a sense of purpose.

Dan lived his life outdoors, where he felt most at home. Whether he was golfing, hunting, or casting a line across the water, he cherished every moment spent in nature, especially when he was sharing those moments with the people he loved. His granddaughters, AdyJo and Gwennie, were the lights of his life, and everything he did revolved around them. In more recent years, Dan found companionship with Helen Rosso, and together they enjoyed long rides, leisurely days, and many rounds of golf. Dan was an active member of both the Sons of the American Legion Squadron #162 and the American Legion Riders Post #162 in Albion and enjoyed the friendships made with other members.

Dan is survived by his daughter: Lisa (Kelly Jarvis) Gaunt of Lincoln, NE; son: Ryan (Chelsea) Gaunt of St. Edward, NE; five grandchildren: Adyline; Guineveve; Brayden; Lincoln; Easton; siblings: Marvin (Joni) Gaunt of Norfolk, NE; Sam (Rita) Gaunt of Genoa, NE; James (Wendy) Gaunt of Monroe, NE; and Steve Gaunt of Genoa, NE; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and countless friends who will miss his humor, warmth, and conversation.

He is preceded in death by his mother: Della (Brown) Gaunt; father: Dick Gaunt; grandparents; sister: Linda Clark; aunt: Marie Majures; and cousin: Ron Majures.
