Crystal "Crissy" Sharon Lee Ranslem, 32, of Temple, TX, formerly of Albion, NE, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019 due to a vehicle accident by Hearne, Texas, she was on her way to work where she was a Licensed State Federal Armed Security Officer at the George Bush Library on the Texas A&M campus as well as a State Texas Peace Officer.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2019 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion, NE with Fr. Mark Tomasiewicz officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at the church with a 7 p.m. Wake Service. Inurnment of her ashes will be at a later date at Bonanza Akron Cemetery, rural Albion, NE.
Crystal "Crissy" Sharon Lee Ranslem was born on January 12, 1987 in Albion, Nebraska to parents Duane and Karen Ranslem. Crissy was welcomed home by her four older siblings. At a young age she earned the nickname "Crystal the Pistol" due to her honest expression of her feelings and thoughts.
Crissy attended St. Michael's and Albion Public Elementary school. She graduated in 2005 from Boone Central High School. While she was in High School, she enjoyed playing the trombone and French horn. She self-taught herself to play the acoustic and bass guitar. With her musical abilities she composed and performed an original song for the school fall musical. Crissy enjoyed art, painting, sketching and writing poetry. Besides a love of the arts Crissy enjoyed being the catcher for her hometown Albion's softball team in High school.
After graduation she worked and lived in Norfolk, Nebraska before moving to Navasota, Texas in 2007. Crystal was a security officer at Texas A&M Campus for five years before becoming a Licensed State Federal Armed Security Officer at George Bush Library. While employed there, Crystal tested highest more than once of being an excellent marksman.
Crystal married Kenney Krueger on September 22, 2017 at Temple, Texas where they resided. As a Licensed State Federal Armed Security Officer, Crystal served for both George and Barbara Bush. Barbara Bush would request personally for her whenever they visited the library. Because of this Crystal had the honor of serving both Bush's funerals. While employed there she used her CPR skills to resuscitate an elderly man that had collapsed visiting the Bush Cemetery the summer of 2018.
This born and raised Nebraska girl while employed at Bush Library met kings, all the living U.S. presidents and many dignitaries. Crystal worked with the CIA and FBI during the Bush's funerals and avoided the camera people who wanted interviews at each funeral. Never one to be in the spotlight she was a humble, dedicated person that always did what was right.
Crystal loved history, Greek mythology, antique guns and knives. She was very proud of her German and Irish heritage and taught herself to speak German fluently.
An avid gamer, movie and music aficionado. She was always sharing her latest finds to her family.
Crystal was protective and loving to everyone and all creatures. Besides having her fur babies that she adored, she made insulated cat houses for the stray cats at her work. To relax, Crystal would go for long hikes. Nature was her medicine as was music, she thrived on both.
Crystal is preceded in death by her grandparents: Ann Kruse, Vernon and Fern Ranslem; her Aunt and namesake: Sharon Lee Ranslem; and cousin - Jeremy Anderson.
She is survived by her wife - Kenney (Krueger) Ranslem of Temple, TX; parents - Duane and Karen Ranslem of Albion, NE; brothers - Paul (Kristine) Ranslem of Kersey, CO and Chad (Heather) Ranslem of David City, NE; sisters - Shawna (Jacob Dendinger) Ranslem of Hartington, NE and Jessica (Paul) Sueper of Lincoln, NE; Nephews and nieces - Zachary Ranslem, Mitchell (Abbigayle) Ranslem, Brittany Ranslem, Jordan Lawrence, Jada Ranslem, Brianna VanDeWalle, Isabel VanDeWalle, Levi Dendinger, Kaden Sueper, Ethan Sueper; great nephew - Royce Ranslem and a great niece on the way Mitchell (Abbigayle) Ranslem. As well her Aunts, Uncles and cousins who all were touched and loved by this tough as nails, caring, wise cracking Pistol.
