Cora I. Larson, 99, of Albion, NE, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Boone County Health Center, Albion, NE.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Immanuel Zion Lutheran Church (South Branch), rural Albion, with Rev. Becky Beckman and Rev. Terry Larson officiating. Interment will be at the Shell Creek Cemetery, Newman Grove, NE. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Newman Grove Flood Relief or Immanuel Zion Lutheran Church.
Cora Irene (Bygland) Larson, daughter of Iver S. and Tillie (Tisthammer) Bygland was born on September 11, 1919 on her parent's farm in the South Branch community, rural Albion, Nebraska. She was baptized in 1919 at Immanuel Lutheran (South Branch) Church. She confirmed her Christian faith in 1934.
Cora attended District 57 School, and graduated from Albion High School in 1938. During WWII, she worked at the Remington Arms Defense Plant in Denver, Colorado. On September 29, 1946 she was united in marriage to Dale M. Larson at Immanuel Lutheran Church. They lived in Newman Grove, Nebraska for most of their married life where they were active in the community and committed members of Shell Creek Lutheran Church. Cora worked in the Newman Grove School cafeteria for many years. In 1994, Dale and Cora moved to Albion. Cora was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, (circle), and the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dale, an infant granddaughter Cecile Sampy, an infant great-granddaughter Taryn Larson, her brothers Stephen and John, her sisters Gunhild, Agnes and Gladys, sister-in-law Edna Bygland, brothers-in-law Douglas Freeman, Pershing Kettelson, and Duane Gladem.
She is survived by her four children, Larry (Joyce) Larson, Terry (Sue) Larson, Connie (Tom) Keel, and Linda (Steve) Sampy; seven grandchildren, Maria (Tim) Hayward, Kris (Kristen) Larson, Jonathan (Sheetal Singh) Larson, Erik Larson, Michelle (Joshua) Haverman, David (Kirsten) Keel, and Brittany Sampy; fifteen great-grandchildren, Thea, Hanna, Ashlynn, Zanna, Ari, Noah, Talia, Isaiah, Ezra, Moriah, Zion, Abram, Judah, Selah, and Silas; her sister Irene Gladem, her brother Iver (Darlene) Bygland, as well as many nephews, nieces and friends.
The family wishes to especially thank Iver and Darlene Bygland for their loving care and for the support of Dr. Kusek and the staff at the Rudman Rehab Center. Their devotion to Cora's well-being allowed her to live independently until a week before her death.
