Carter Anson Ahlstedt, 49, of Neligh, NE, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Antelope Memorial Hospital, Neligh, NE.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE with Rev. Carolann Hopcke officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Neligh, NE, with a lunch to follow at the Antelope County Fairgrounds 4-H building. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday at the church.
Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements.
Carter Anson Ahlstedt, son of Bill Jr. and Judy (Anson) Ahlstedt was born April 22, 1975, in Plainview, NE and was baptized at Congregational Church at Brunswick, NE in 1975. He became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE in 2017. He attended Dist. #4 country school through the 5th grade. Carter then went to Neligh-Oakdale High School from the 6th to the 12th grade and graduated in 1993. After high school Carter attended college at Southeast Community College – Milford. He studied Diesel Mechanics and graduated in 1995.
Carter met the love of his life, Ann Choat in 2016 and they were married on September 2, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE. To this union Carter became an instant dad to son, Dalton and daughter, Brynlee.
Carter was a true farmer, enjoyed working the land and taking care of cattle. He was the kind of person that would take the shirt off his back for those he loved and even for a stranger. As well as being a jack of all trades. There wasn't anything he could not fix or build.
Some of his greatest passions were spending time with family and working on projects with his wife. Carter was the calm during a storm and the humor to his family and close friends.
Carter is survived by his wife: Ann Ahlstedt of Neligh, NE; two children: Dalton Harrison and Brynlee Ahlstedt both of Neligh, NE; parents: Bill and Judy Ahlstedt, Jr. of Clearwater, NE; brother: Matthew Ahlstedt of Lincoln, NE; sisters: Krista (Heath) Krebs of Grand Island, NE; Kimberly (Tad) Hansen of Chambers, NE; mother-in-law: Ardys Choat of St. Edward, NE; brother-in-law: Wayne (Jody) Choat of St. Edward, NE; sister-in-law: Alida (Tony) Kurtenbach of St. Edward, NE; nieces and nephews: Logan and Taylor Krebs of Grand Island, NE; Savannah, Maggie, and Shepard Hansen of Chambers, NE; Faith (Dylan) Haas of Genoa, NE; Weston (Carsen) Choat of St. Edward, NE; Claire (Caleb) Kohl of Lincoln, NE; Aislynne, L'Wren, and Logan Kurtenbach of St. Edward, NE; great niece Sunnie Jo Choat of St. Edward, NE; along with many other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents: Bill and Dorothy Ahlstedt, Sr.; David and Lucy Anson; aunt: Bonnie Johns; uncle: Rahn Olson Sr.; and father-in-law: Duane Choat.
