Carolyn Marie Seier

Carolyn M. Seier, 68, of Newman Grove, NE passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home, Newman Grove, NE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at St Michael's Catholic Church in Albion, NE with Fr. Mark Tomasiewicz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Albion, NE. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Levander Funeral Home with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Epilepsy Foundation or the Animal Shelter of Northeast Nebraska.

Carolyn Marie Seier, daughter of Bernard W. and Leona A. (Temme) Seier was born on July 28, 1953, at Neligh, NE. She was baptized at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, then confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion, NE.  Carolyn attended school at St. Michael's Catholic School and graduated from Albion High School in 1972.

On June 23, 1979, Carolyn married Ken Vrtiska at Norfolk, NE.  They lived in Norfolk and then Wayne.  They later divorced.  Carolyn worked at Wayne State College for 21 years and later moved back to Norfolk where she worked at Walmart.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church when she lived in Norfolk.  Carolyn loved animals and as a young girl she loved to ride the family horse, Sparky.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family and playing cards.

Carolyn is survived by her mother: Leona Seier of Albion, NE; sisters: Joan Nelson of Vermillion, SD; Linda (Les) Kinney of Bellevue, NE; sister-in-law: Marcia Seier of Albion, NE; along with nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; many cousins; and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Bernard; brother: Jerry Seier; brother-in-law: Terry Nelson; and nephew Brett Nelson.
