Cal Leon Kleveland

Cal L. Kleveland, 77, of Newman Grove, NE died Saturday, September 7, 2024 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, NE.

At Cal's request, no services will be held at this time. A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2024 at Levander Funeral Home in Newman Grove, NE. Inurnment will be at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at Hope Cemetery, Newman Grove, NE with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #73 of Newman Grove and the Army Funeral Honor Guard.

Calvin "Cal" Leon Kleveland, son of Harold G. and Esther (Wollin) Kleveland was born on December 30, 1946, at Newman Grove, NE. Growing up he lived with his family in Minnesota and Illinois. The family then returned to Newman Grove. Cal graduated from Newman Grove High School with the class of 1965. Following school Cal was drafted into the United States Army and served his first term from 1966-1968, he reentered in 1971 and was honorably discharged in 1974. For both terms he was stationed in Germany.

On January 11, 1975, Cal was united in marriage to Jodeen K. Frickenstein in St. Edward, NE. The couple lived in Albion, then moved to Newman Grove in 1978. To this union son Brad, and daughter Michelle were born. Cal worked as a construction worker building grain bins and did welding as well. He also enjoyed tinkering with things to keep busy, along with enjoying gardening. He was a previous member of the Newman Grove American Legion.

Cal is survived by his wife: Jodeen of Newman Grove, NE; son: Brad (Dana) Kleveland of Greenville, MI; daughter: Michelle Classen of Norfolk, NE; four grandchildren: Elyssa (Jordan) Smith of Norfolk, NE; Jadyn Classen of Norfolk, NE: Riley and Kohlson Classen of Wayne, NE;  two great-grandchildren: Oliver and Emerson Smith; two brothers and one sister: Randy (Janice) Kleveland of Newman Grove, NE; Bonnie Gerloff of Newman Grove, NE; Brian Kleveland of Columbus, NE; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law: Frank Gerloff; and sister-in-law: Janet Kleveland.
