Bobby Lee Brunk 84, of Westminster, CO, passed away at his home on Dec. 15, 2022.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 14, 2023, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Albion, NE with Rev. Carolann Hopcke officiating. Inurnment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, St. Edward, NE with military rites conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Funeral Honor Guard, Crosier American Legion Post #226 of St. Edward, NE and the American Legion Riders.
Miller-Levander Funeral Home of St. Edward, NE is in charge of the arrangements.
Bob, son of Floyd (Bud) Brunk and Alice (Iverson) Brunk, was born Jan. 9, 1938 in St. Edward. He moved with his family to Fremont where he graduated from Fremont High School in 1956. He joined the Marines in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1958. Following the service, he attended Omaha University in Omaha for two years.
On Jan. 2, 1963, he was united in marriage to Marlyss Schaefer and from this union one son, Bradley James, was born on Jan. 10, 1964.
He worked for Continental Can Company for many years until moving to Richfield, MN where he worked for the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport refueling aircraft.
On March 24, 1972, he was united in marriage to Dianne Benson at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion. From this union he was blessed with three sons: Bradley, Bruce, and Brian Brunk.
In 1975, they moved to Denver, CO where he worked for Combs Gates and Signature refueling aircraft until retiring in 2001. He met many celebrities when they stopped on their way to the mountains. He received many awards for not missing a day of work. He also helped with the big move from Stapleton airport to D.I.A. He took flying lessons and soloed but didn't get his license. He wanted to be able to talk to pilots and everyone who would listen about airplanes.
He loved the mountains and climbed many. He was able to climb Longs Peak at the age of 67.
He is survived by his wife Dianne and sons: Bradley J. (Kim) of Bennington, Brad (LeAnna), Bruce (Amber) of Arvada, CO, and Brian (Sabrina) of Wheat Ridge, CO., seven grandsons: Tyler, Jason, Joshua, Dusty, Kaden, Noah and Anthony (A.J.), two granddaughters: Shannon and Presley, two great grandsons: Andreu and Vincent, sister Patrica Corn, two nephews, one niece, many more nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd (Bud) and Alice Brunk, his in-laws Melvin and Alvena Benson and brother-in-law Robert Corn.
