Betty May Linnaus

Rescheduled services for Betty M. Linnaus, 89, of Tucson, AZ, formerly of Elgin, NE will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Elgin, NE, with Rev. Glenn Loy officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Oakdale Cemetery, Oakdale, NE. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Betty M. Linnaus, 89, passed away Monday, March 4, 2019 at her home in Tucson, AZ.

Huffman-Levander Funeral Home in Elgin, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Betty May (Patterson) Linnaus, daughter of McCellan Custer and Bertha Adelia (Dorriott) Patterson, was born on May 12, 1929 at Omaha, NE. She grew up in the Benson district of Omaha and graduated from Benson High School in 1947.

Betty was united in marriage to Charles McDonnell in 1947 at Omaha. Following their marriage they continued to live in the Omaha area. In 1950, Betty was united in marriage to Vernon Linnaus of Oakdale in Omaha. After their wedding the couple lived in the Oakdale/Elgin, NE area, moved to Paige, NE and then Los
Alamos, NM, and settled in Tucson, AZ. Betty received her teaching certificate in May of 1970 and graduated with a Master's Degree in Interior Design with an emphasis on Energy Efficiency on May 12, 1994. Betty taught art at schools and enjoyed teaching her passion to her students. She was a very generous person and enjoyed gardening plants and flowers, pottery, watercolor painting, all kinds of birds, and especially loved her family. She was a member of the Methodist faith.

Betty is survived by her four children: Linda Deiley of Glendale, AZ; Fredrick (Socorro) Linnaus of Tucson, AZ; David (Wanda) Linnaus of Oakdale, NE; Robert Linnaus of Tustin, CA; 12 grandchildren: Jeff (Kathleen) Deiley of Bainbridge, WA; James Deiley of Glendale, AZ; Matthew (Anabel) Linnaus of Tucson, AZ; Mark Linnaus of Tucson, AZ; Heather (Joel) Mudavadi of Reading, Berkshire, England; Sarah (Kevin) Thiele of West Point, NE; Christopher Linnaus of Oakdale, NE; Andrew (Melanie) Linnaus of Norfolk, NE; Katherine Linnaus of Omaha, NE; Stephan (Maria) Linnaus of Phoenix, AZ; Sonia (Gary) Barnhart of Mission Viejo, CA; Eric (Marina) Linnaus of Long Beach, CA; 24 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Vernon; one brother and one sister.
