Elizabeth "Betty" Eunice Bowman was born November 15, 1933, to John E. and Eunice V. (Fusselman) Engelbert on a farm north of Albion, NE. She was the youngest of ten children. Betty grew up and attended school in Albion and graduated from Albion High School in 1951. After graduation, she taught at District 24 (Dennison) in Boone County for one year. She took classes at Wayne State College over the summer and later taught at District 13 in Boone County for one year.

On July 12, 1953, Betty married the love of her life and high school sweetheart Dale Bowman at the United Methodist Church in Albion. Dale was in the Army and they lived in Anniston, AL where their daughter Kathryn was born at Fort McClellan.

Dale was honorably discharged in 1954, and they moved to the family farm south of Albion. They had three more children: Julia, Debra and John. Betty was a member of the United Methodist Church in Albion where she served as president of the United Methodist Women as well as other offices. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #162. She was president of Albion Women's Club and president of American Home. She was a member of ONC (Our Neighborly Club) and served as president for many years. She worked on the Boone County Election Board and delivered Meals on Wheels, where she was Chairman for several years.

Betty and Dale enjoyed dancing and playing cards. They belonged to the Shufflers Dance Club and belonged to neighborhood pitch and pinochle clubs. They also loved to travel and went to many of the United States including Hawaii. Betty was a farm wife and loved her garden and canning and freezing produce. She had beautiful flower gardens and later in life she enjoyed visiting her daughters and seeing their flower gardens. Betty was also a wonderful cook and baker and always had desserts ready to eat, as well as providing food for many friends and neighbors. She was a great seamstress and made many clothes for her daughters when they were young. She also did a lot of needle work and other craft projects.

In 1983 Betty and Dale moved from the farm to Albion, where she enjoyed playing bridge in several clubs. Betty decorated her home for every holiday. She loved to attend concerts, plays and musicals and was always up for a game of 5-point pitch. She loved having all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at her home for many visits and holidays.

In 2018, Betty and Dale moved to the Regency Apartments in Kearney, NE. Betty was so happy to have lived the past 7 1/2 years of her life in Kearney close to her daughters. She loved to play cards and socialize with her neighbors at the Regency. In January of this year, Betty moved to Broadwell Senior Living in Kearney.
