Bernadine A. Spieker, 84, of Petersburg, NE passed away Monday, June 3, 2019 at Ridgewood Rehab and Care Center in Seward, NE.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE, with Fr. John Hagemann officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the church, with a 7 p.m. wake service

Memorials are suggested to the family or to the Alzheimer's Association to further dementia research.

Levander Funeral Home of Albion, NE is in charge of arrangements.

Bernadine Angela Spieker, the daughter of Joseph and Antonette (Beiermann) Borer, was born on August 2, 1934 at St. Bernard, NE. She was baptized on August 3, 1934 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in St. Bernard. Bernadine received her confirmation at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE, in 1943. She attended school at Boone County Rural School District #62 and at St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Petersburg.

On February 18, 1963, Bernadine was united in marriage to Lawrence William Spieker at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The couple made their home on their farm two and a half miles north of Petersburg and Bernadine lived there until 2017 when she moved to Ridgewood Rehab and Care Center in Seward, NE. Bernadine worked as a homemaker and farm wife, helping her husband with many tasks and chores around the farm.

Bernadine enjoyed gardening, crocheting, quilting, and baking. Her family was her pride and joy, she enjoyed studying and learning her family history and spending time with them. She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and St. John's Altar Society.

Bernadine is survived by three daughters: Shirley Spieker of Omaha, NE; Colleen (Troy) Hansen of Deshler, NE; Brenda (Scott) Erickson of Seward, NE; six grandchildren: Jenscena Hansen of Omaha, NE; Mikaela, Grant, and Coltin Hansen all of Deshler, NE; Sydney and Garrett Erickson of Seward, NE; brother: Lawrence "Larry" (Helen) Borer of Elgin, NE; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Ann Borer of Omaha, NE; Carol Borer of Auburn, IN; Linda Buelt of Omaha, NE; Fred Spieker of Albion, NE; Mary Ann Spieker of Kenneth, MN; Laura Mae Spieker of Neligh, NE; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lawrence; siblings: Victor, Dennis, Roman, Gerald, and Joseph Borer; Rita Daly, Sally Hagemann, June Simons, and Clair Pelster.
