Beata Catherine Hoefer, 97, of Albion, NE passed away July 19, 2024 at Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home, Newman Grove NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2024 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Albion, NE with Rev. Matt Gutowski officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, July 28, 2024 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. wake service, at the Levander Funeral Home, 1555 S. 6th Street, Albion, NE 68620.
Levander Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Beata Hoefer, daughter of Carl and Anna (Kloster) Huisman was born January 7, 1927 on a farm west of Petersburg, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She attended St John's School.
On November 12, 1957, she was united in marriage to Francis A Hoefer at St John's Catholic Church in Petersburg. They lived north of Albion on the family farm until moving into Albion in 1991 upon retirement.
Beata worked beside her husband on the farm assisting with field work, milking cows, raising cattle, hogs, and chickens. She was a great cook. She would make 7-8 loaves of bread weekly. She had a huge garden and canned many vegetables. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and reading. After her retirement, she cooked at the Albion Senior Center for several years.
She was a member of St Michael's Church and Altar Society where she held many offices. She was a member of Harmony Squares dance club and Korner Quilters. She enjoyed going out for coffee after weekday mass and Saturday night cards with her friends.
She is survived by her four children: Walter (Lois) Hoefer of Albion, Janet (Tom) Dickinson of Centennial, CO, Marcia (Mark) Knust of Newman Grove, and Martin (Kelly) Hoefer of Bellevue, NE; grandchildren: Tonja (Chris) Hagedorn, Josh Webber, Jesse Knust, Zach Webber, Bridget (Tanner) Bollig, Ryan Hoefer, Chase Dickinson, Logan (Sipres) Hoefer, and Noah Hoefer, five great-grandchildren; bothers-in-law: Jerry Kitner and Art Remmereid; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Francis in 1991; sisters: Verena Noble and Lucilla Huisman; brother Charlie Huisman; sisters-in-law: Mary Alice Hoefer, Mary Carol Kitner, and Mildred Remmereid; brothers-in law: Carroll Noble, James Hoefer, and Vincent Hoefer.
