Alan C. Choat

Alan C. Choat, 77, of Albion, NE, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2019, at Faith Regional Heath Services, Norfolk, NE.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, NE with Rev. Mary Frohs officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion, NE. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, at Levander Funeral Home in Albion, NE.

Alan Clarence Choat, son of Clarence and Eleanor (Nelson) Choat, was born on August 24, 1941 at St. Edward, NE. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Albion, attended elementary school at the rural District #5 Dogtown School, and graduated from Albion High School with the class of 1958.

Alan was united in marriage to Judith Joy Roberts at Zion Lutheran Church on October 2, 1960. They were blessed with three children: Scott, Steven, and Cynthia. Following their wedding, the couple made their home in Albion for a year before moving onto the farm near St. Edward, NE. They moved back into Albion in 1971. Alan worked as a lifelong farmer, raising crops and livestock.

Alan was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in Albion and a former member of the Hudson Car Club. He enjoyed collecting tractors, going to car shows, and attending Rae Valley Days near Petersburg, NE.

Alan is survived by his wife Judy Choat of Albion, NE; two children: Steven Choat of St. Edward, NE; Cynthia (Verl) Johnson of Grand Island, NE; three grandchildren: Kyle (Amber) Majerus of Albion, NE; Tyler Majerus of Grand Island, NE; Lacy Majerus of Albion, NE; one great-granddaughter: MaKyleigh Majerus of Albion, NE; one brother: Duane (Ardy) Choat of St. Edward, NE; three sisters-in-law: Shirley Choat of St. Edward, NE; Mildred Choat of St. Edward, NE; Karen Bumgardner of Albion, NE; one brother-in-law: Cecil "Butch" (Sherri) Roberts Jr. of David City, NE; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Eleanor; stepmother: Lillian; son: Scott Choat; grandchildren: Cody and Zachary Majerus; and brothers: Gary Choat and Lynn Choat.
