Aggie M. Hinkle, 88, of Spalding, NE, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 23, 2024, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE with Fr. Lawrence Vadakkan officiating. Interment will follow at St. Michael's Cemetery, Spalding, NE. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with a 7:00 p.m. wake service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for a later designation.
Levander Funeral Home of Spalding, NE is in charge of arrangements.
Agnes "Aggie" Marie Hinkle was born November 24, 1936, in rural O'Connor, NE to Jerald and Mary (Fenton) Peterson. She grew up with her brothers: Leo, Jim, Tom, and Bob and sister: Patty. She went to first grade at St. Joseph Academy at O'Connor, NE and then moved with her family to the Blair and Springfield areas near Omaha, NE. During her ninth-grade year the family moved to Spalding, NE. She graduated from Spalding Academy.
Aggie worked at the Spalding Mercantile before and after graduation. On June 14, 1955, Aggie married her high school sweetheart, Richard Hinkle, at Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE. They moved to a farm in Wheeler County where they owned and operated Hinkle's Dairy for 40 years. They are the parents of four children: Sharon, James, Katherine, and Jeanette.
Aggie's pride and joy was their family. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She loved having everyone close and stopping by to visit. She enjoyed chaperoning her children's school events and going to her children and grandchildren's events. She enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, golf, and flowers. Aggie was a member of St. Ann's Altar Society and the Leisure Hour Club. She served as secretary for their Mid-America Dairy District.
Aggie is survived by her husband of 69 1/2 years; their children: Sherry (Jerry) Smith of Spalding, NE; Jim (Tammy) Hinkle of Lake Forest, CA; Kathy (Bill) Carlin of Hastings, NE; Jeanette (Joe) Zwiener of Albion, NE; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three brothers: Leo (Rosie) Peterson of Plattsmouth, NE; Tom (Veronica) Peterson of Goddard, KS; Bob (Jeannie) Peterson of Elkhorn, NE; sister: Patty (Wally) Plosky of Milan, MI; three sisters-in-law: Ruby Peterson of Omaha, NE; Letha Hinkle of Spalding, NE; Linda (Butch) Hinze of Salix, IA; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Jim Peterson; parents-in-law: Leonard and Agatha Hinkle; brother-in-law: Duane Hinkle; and sister-in-law: Charlotte O'Brien.
